Any uploads will now count against your free 15GB Drive storage that comes with any Google account, though there are extra storage options all the way up to 30TB. If you'd rather not have any compression, though, then you should choose the 'Original' upload size for photos and video. So if you want to do a Facebook photos backup for free, just choose the 'High Quality' import option in you Google Photos settings. Google Photos lets you store an unlimited number of photos that are under 16MP resolution and the same goes for 1080p videos. It's frankly about a time a tool like this was available to all Facebook users, and even if you don't have a Google Photos account, it could be worth setting one up just to take advantage of the feature.
